This Star Trek is not a "continuing adventure" but a prequel to show how the original Star Trek cast members became crew members on the Enterprise.
Unlike everybody else, I only thought Star Trek was "okay." It’s gotten rave reviews and everybody I know who has seen it thinks it’s fantastic, and can’t shut up. For hardcore fans it's fun to see a fleshed out backstory behind situations and experiences alluded to in the movie and TV narratives.
I thought it was only okay, but then again I was a fan of the first series with Shatner and Nimoy and have never been excited about any of its progeny - TV shows nor movies. I won’t say it wasn’t worth the money, but it wasn’t the greatest thing I’ve ever seen.
