Anchorage, Alaska, 99501
Originally from Arizona, Lisa came to Alaska in 2005 “just for the summer.” By the end of that summer, Alaska and Weidner & Associates had won her over and the rest is history.
Lisa brings to Weidner & Associates a commitment to helping people who are experiencing life changing injuries or loss of loved ones. She is also a committed advocate for criminal defendants, who face a daunting justice system and serious threats to their Constitutional rights. Lisa’s background, which includes family law practice and advocacy for political asylum seekers, have shaped her legal practice. At Weidner & Associates, Lisa continues to advance the needs of people suffering loss and injury, and people facing prosecution.
Lisa takes on civil litigation, appeals, and criminal defense. She practices in State and Federal courts. She has represented clients in a wide variety of matters including wrongful death, personal injury, business, contract, real estate, and landlord-tenant actions. She represents criminal defendants facing misdemeanor charges, including DUI and refusal charges, and works with Phillip Weidner in felony representation, including drug, theft, and assault charges. She represents inmates in parole matters and inmates and their families in litigation against the State of Alaska and Department of Corrections relating to injuries suffered while in custody, death while in custody, and failure to provide medical care to inmates.
She enjoys appellate advocacy and successfully briefed Estate of Milos v. Quality Asphalt Paving, Inc., 145 P.3d 533 (Alaska 2006), an appeal addressing the exclusive remedy provision of Alaska’s workers’ compensation statute.
Lisa has also had the privilege to work as co-counsel in a federal False Claims Act case, including two successful appeals before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Berg v. Honeywell, Intern., Inc., 502 Fed. Appx. 674 (9th Cir. 2012) and Berg v. Honeywell, Intern. Inc. 580 Fed. Appx. 559 (9th Cir. 2014). She argued both appeals to the Ninth Circuit.
Lisa enjoys hiking, running, and exploring Alaska with her family, friends, and high-spirited dog.
