Mr. William K. Nelson is a registered patent attorney with several years of experience practicing intellectual property (IP) law. Mr. Nelson advises clients on all aspects of intellectual property acquisition, management, enforcement, and due diligence.

While always a zealous advocate for the client, Mr. Nelson understands that intellectual property disputes are primarily business matters that call for pragmatic solutions rather than Pyrrhic legal victories.
With regard to patents, Mr. Nelson has been practicing before the United States Patent and Trademark Office since 2008 and has substantial experience prosecuting patents in the technical areas of biotechnology, life sciences, medical devices, agricultural and industrial technologies relating to irrigation, fertilization, harvesting, and packaging, agrichemicals, software, and electronic and semiconductor devices.
Mr. Nelson also has extensive experience in procuring trademark and copyright registrations and IP licensing and transfer agreements. Mr. Nelson has been selected as a Northern California Super Lawyer Rising Star since 2018, a rating of outstanding lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.
Before pursuing law, Mr. Nelson received a Master of Science degree in Biology (with distinction) from California State University, Fresno. Mr. Nelson’s graduate studies and research focused on endocrinology, particularly non-toxic, endocrine-mediated population control of invertebrate agricultural pests. His research was published in several academic articles and abstracts.
