He served as a Senior Deputy District Attorney, for more than 12 years in the Jefferson County SVU (Crimes Against Children Unit), Domestic Violence Unit and Felony Prosecution Unit, as well as a prosecutor in Colorado Springs in El Paso County. Doug is especially well-versed in homicide, violent crimes, and Colorado’s complex sex offender and child abuse laws.

Before his law career, Doug was a journalist and investigative reporter, covering major crime and court trials. This experience makes him uniquely skilled at questioning police and other witnesses to elicit critical facts and achieve the best outcome for his clients.
Doug has tried numerous felony and misdemeanor cases, including: homicides, sexual assaults, child abuse, domestic violence, drug distribution and possession, robberies, assaults, fraud and theft. He has also represented hundreds of parents in domestic relations and dependency and neglect cases in the Denver Metro area, both as a private counsel and state-appointed attorney. In the past, he also served as a guardian ad litem, representing the best interests of children in dependency and neglect and juvenile crimes cases.
Doug was selected to speak at the statewide Colorado District Attorneys Council annual conferences about preparation and prosecution of major felony cases, both as a prosecutor and as a defense counsel. He also spent several years defending entities and professionals against lawsuits, has served on the statewide Child Fatality Review Team, and was Senior Corporate Counsel and Director of Investigations at Qwest Communications, a Fortune 500 Company.
When he is not serving clients and running the law practice, Doug is cycling, hiking and enjoying the Colorado outdoors with his family and their dogs.
