Mr. Bennett focuses his practice primarily on litigating corporate and alternative entity governance, complex commercial, and intellectual property matters in Delaware's Court of Chancery, the United States District Court for the District of Delaware, and Delaware's Supreme Court.
Notably, Mr. Bennett recently obtained a $6,518,000 verdict on behalf of his client, following a three week jury trial in the Delaware Superior Court’s Complex Commercial Litigation Division. Mr. Bennett successfully established that the defendant had willfully and maliciously misappropriated his client's trade secrets.
He has also successfully represented several large condominium homeowners associations and communities in claims related to building and design defects. Mr. Bennett regularly defends commercial entities against claims brought under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Drawing in part from his background in science and medicine, Mr. Bennett also has considerable experience litigating toxic tort matters. Mr. Bennett also has significant experience serving as Delaware Counsel in defending companies against patent infringement claims.
In addition to appearing before all of Delaware's trial courts, Mr. Bennett has successfully briefed and/or argued several appeals before the Delaware Supreme Court.
Prior to joining Cooch and Taylor, Mr. Bennett completed a one year clerkship for former Chief Justice Myron T. Steele of the Delaware Supreme Court.
