Trip Barnes is not only an active attorney in the legal field, but he is also active in his community, his family, and the rest of the Magnolia State. He is the father of three and resides in Madison, Mississippi, with his wife, Sandra. He is also the proud grandparent to Hayes and Keaton. He has held numerous leadership positions, such as, serving as the past Chairman-Elect and Secretary of the Board of Deacons, at First Presbyterian Church in Gulfport, Mississippi. 

He was the past Vice-President and former President-Elect of Gulfport Kiwanis Club; three-time Past Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army in Gulfport, Mississippi. 

Trip also served as the Director and Past Vice-Chairman and twice Chairman of the Hinds County Advisory Board of the Salvation Army. He was the past President and Secretary of the Harrison County MSU Alumni Association. He also served as the Director of the Hinds County MSU Alumni Association and President of the MSU Law Alumni association. He was the Director of the Jackson Downtown Rotary Club (Sergeant at Arms 1998-1999) and Member of the North Jackson Rotary Club.

He is also a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. Trip also served as past Chairman of the Sustaining Membership Committee of Boy Scouts of America and obtained his Eagle Scout with two palms. He was elected in 1979 Outstanding Young Man of America by the National Jaycees. Trip was also a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
