Ony Okoro is the founder of Apex Legal. Ms. Okoro is a transactional attorney who represents clients in a variety of intellectual property and technology matters ranging from technology transactions to the IP aspects of private equity, M&A and other corporate transactions. Ms. Okoro has advised on hundreds of consummated transactions, from license agreements and joint development agreements to initial start-up investments to significant M&A transactions. Ms. Okoro’s clients include Fortune 500 companies, mid-sized companies and start-ups in a variety of industries, including software, healthcare, life sciences, consumer products, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, financial services, power, semiconductors, fashion, and travel.
Ms. Okoro has extensive experience with standalone IP matters, including patent and technology licensing, technology transfer, joint ventures and strategic alliances, joint development agreements, software licensing, trademark and brand licensing, data licensing, content licensing, risk management and settlement of IP disputes and litigations. She also regularly oversees significant IP and commercial due diligence investigations in the context of analyzing complex commercial or technical aspects of corporate transactions. Ms. Okoro earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Washington.
She earned her J.D from New York University School of Law. While attending New York University, she served as Articles Editor of the New York University Journal of Law and Business. Before forming Apex Legal, Ms. Okoro practiced as in-house counsel at GE Healthcare. Ms. Okoro also worked as a corporate associate with Davis Wright Tremaine LLP in Seattle, WA and as a corporate associate with the New York office of Dorsey & Whitney LLP.
