Chris J. Roy, Jr., an accident and injury lawyer in Alexandria, Louisiana, specializes in car accidents, medical malpractice, and nursing home negligence. He is also a board member of United Way of Central Louisiana. Chris fights for victims of negligence to ensure that their rights are protected and that they receive fair compensation for their injuries. Chris has represented hundreds of families whose loved ones were injured or harmed as a result of medical negligence.
Chris, a third-generation attorney and lifelong Central Louisiana resident, was taught that a competent lawyer can improve people’s lives. He understands this community and will personally work with you, unlike the television advertisers who aren’t from it and will pass you off to a paralegal.
Chris J. Roy, Jr., a highly accomplished accident and injury lawyer, graduated with honors from Louisiana State University in 1984 with a degree in political science. He further honed his legal skills at Southern University Law Center, graduating with honors in 1987 and being elected to the Law Center Hall of Fame in 2007. His legal career began as a law clerk at the Ninth Judicial District Court under Judge Robert Jackson. He then practiced law with his father, Chris J. Roy, Sr., before establishing his own law firm, Chris J. Roy, Jr. Law Corporation, in 1990.
Chris's commitment to public service is exemplified by his tenure in the Louisiana House of Representatives. As a legislator, he served the 25th District and was a member of the Insurance, Commerce, and Agriculture Committees. His efforts were recognized when he was named Legislator of the Year for the Louisiana Orthopedic Society in 2010. He championed the protection of the elderly from abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation, and was instrumental in passing laws to protect mentally disabled children. His advocacy extended to fighting for victims of crime and consumers as a member of the House Commerce Committee, where he fought for consumer rights against big insurance companies on all health insurance issues and insurance bad faith laws.
Professionally, he is a member of the Alexandria and Louisiana State Bar Associations. Chris is also a member of the American Association of Justice. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Louisiana and the United States Supreme Court. In August 2022, he was admitted to the Colorado Bar, allowing him to practice in Colorado.
Chris's commitment to his community is evident in his active involvement in various organizations. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Rapides Parish Children’s Advocacy Center and CASA, and the March of Dimes. His sponsorship of 'citizen law schools' for the Louisiana Association of Justice further demonstrates his dedication to legal education and community service.
Chris is originally from Marksville, Louisiana, and moved to Alexandria with his family, where his father practiced law. He has been married to Lelia Hopewell Roy for 35 years. They are the proud parents of three children: Madeleine Clark Roy Salzer, an attorney in New Orleans; Christopher J. Roy, III, an attorney in New Orleans; and John Roy, a third-year Louisiana State University Law Center student.
