After growing up on the Iron Range, I decided I wanted to help people using my skills and what I would learn in higher education. I went to the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Science degree in both Business Administration and Human Resources. It was a great challenge that lead me to pursue a doctorate. With hard work and a passion for learning law to help others, I received a Juris Doctorate from William Michell College of Law with a Magna Cum Laude in the top 5% of my class.
Since becoming a lawyer in 1999, I have helped hundreds of people and businesses manage or eliminate debt through workout or bankruptcy. I have also assisted many people through difficult and emotional family matters. I have represented businesses and their owners in a variety of corporate matters. My legal background is varied, having practiced in both a large law firm in downtown Minneapolis, as well as a small firm in Ely, Minnesota.
I am active in the Elk River Chamber of Commerce, sit on the board of the Friends of Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge, and am the past president of the Little Elk Lake Improvement Association. I have served as the president and board member of numerous other civic and professional associations.
In addition to practicing law, I enjoy canoeing, camping, Alpine and Nordic skiing, and traveling with my two wonderful daughters. I also got involved with coaching their soccer and mock trial teams to spend time with them.
