Courtney practices estate planning, estate administration (probate), and civil litigation. She protects clients from situations that can destroy their finances and relationships.  Courtney graduated magna cum laude from the University of Saint Thomas. She graduated cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law. 

 Courtney was a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Gordon W. Shumaker and the Honorable Lawrence B. Stauber, Jr., at the Minnesota Court of Appeals. Courtney also represented school districts, cities, and counties at the law firm of Ratwik, Roszak & Maloney, where she helped research and write a winning brief to the Minnesota Supreme Court. 

 She then joined Meagher & Geer, where she represented large insurance companies in no-fault automobile insurance, property insurance, and life insurance matters. 

 Courtney's litigation and clerkship experience gives her a strategic advantage. Clients find her personable and understanding. Opposing counsel may not agree. 

 Courtney is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association. She represents clients in the cities of Excelsior and Rochester, Minnesota. 

 Courtney is a former Adjunct Professor of Evidence and Property and taught the writing portion of Lawyering (formerly WRAP) for three years at Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Originally from Rochester, Minnesota, she enjoys running, traveling, reading, and learning Italian. 

 Courtney is proud that Excelsior Law Firm was named one of three finalists for Best Law Firm in the Best of Lake Minnetonka in Lake Minnetonka Magazine. Courtney is also proud to be named a Rising Star by SuperLawyers for the third year in a row. Courtney wrote a chapter of an estate planning book published by Minnesota CLE on estate planning for blended families, an area of interest for her. 

 Courtney is interested in the academic side of the law. She likes estate planning because she enjoys helping families plan and come together. She likes litigation because she enjoys fighting for her clients' rights. She likes probate because she enjoys guiding clients through a complicated process during a difficult time. 

 Courtney loves working with people, and enjoys hearing from her clients. She takes on other types of cases on a periodic basis upon request from colleagues and clients.
