Ryan studied microbiology at Kansas State University and worked in a surgical immunology lab at New York Presbyterian Hospital as a researcher for a year before entering law school. This background in science has helped Ryan better serve clients in a number of complex scientific and medical lawsuits. Ryan litigated cases involving nearly every kind of health care provider, including: hospitals, pharmacies, rehabilitation facilities, skilled nursing units, assisted living facilities, mental health facilities, physician assistants, and registered nurses.
Ryan has litigated a wide variety of medical malpractice allegations, including: failure to diagnose, misdiagnosis, medication errors, prescription errors, nursing errors, surgical errors, anesthesia errors, radiological errors, post-operative complications, and labor and delivery. Ryan has also been heavily involved in litigation against skilled nursing, assisted living, and independent living facilities. These cases involved nursing home abuse, failure to properly manage/monitor/treat a resident’s condition, medication errors, resident falls, pressure ulcers/stasis ulcers, staffing issues, treatment errors or omissions, use of restraints, use of bedrails, wound care, elopement, and failure to follow doctor’s orders.
In addition to his experience in health care cases, Ryan has also been involved in cases against product manufacturers with allegations of negligent design, manufacturing, and warnings, as well as, auto accidents, trucking accidents, and insurance bad faith claims.
In addition to work and family, Ryan is also a marathon runner and avid golfer.
Ryan was born and raised in Kansas City and now lives in Overland Park, KS with his wife, son, and daughter.
