Amanda is the President of Engen Law Office, PC in Devils Lake, ND. In 2004, she earned her Bachelors of the Arts degree from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities with majors in Psychology and Political Science. After her undergraduate studies, she worked for a brief period as a parenting time investigator for the State of Minnesota before attending law school at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, NE. It was at UNL that Amanda confirmed her passion for Family Law, receiving the CALI Award for Excellence in Family Law Practice. Amanda received her Juris Doctor degree in 2009.
After law school, Amanda moved to Devils Lake where she worked for several years for the State of North Dakota as an Attorney at the Regional Child Support Unit, spending countless hours in the courtroom. In 2014 Amanda formed Engen Law Office, PC.
In addition to her work as a private practice attorney, Amanda is an attorney for the JAG Corps in the Army National Guard. She has served in the National Guard since 2000 and deployed to Iraq for a year in 2006.
Amanda is licensed to practice in North Dakota and in the Spirit Lake Tribal Court. Her primary areas of practice are divorce, primary residential responsibility (custody), parenting time (visitation), paternity, child support, and adoption.
She grew up in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Her husband, Chad, is in law enforcement in the Devils Lake area and also teaches concealed carry courses. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys spending time with her husband and their three children. She also enjoys golf, travel, and fitness.
