More About Donald E. Gies III

Donald E. Gies, III is an Oklahoma licensed attorney, focusing primarily on cannabis law - representing dozens of patients, growers, processors, and dispensaries in a range of matters across the state. His extensive experience with the San Francisco Bay area medical marijuana industry provide a unique understanding of complex issues touching cannabis law.

Donny received his Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2019. During law school, he received multiple Dean's List honors, completed an externship with Oklahoma County Early Settlement Program as a State Certified Mediator, served as an intern to the Oklahoma County Drug & Mental Health Courts, and volunteered at the Oklahoma County Public Defender's Office in the Capital Trial Division.

He earned his bachelor's degree in sports management from Oklahoma State Spears School of Business in 2009, where he was a member of the OSU Track & Cross Country Team. Upon graduation from college, Donny moved to the San Francisco Bay Area with his lifelong best friends, submerging themselves in the cannabis industry, including legislative and policy work for marijuana activist Richard Lee at Oaksterdam University in Oakland, while working on ballot initiative Proposition 19 campaigning for the decriminalization and legalization of medical marijuana in California.

Born in Germany, the eldest son of a military family, Donny's family eventually settled in Owasso, Oklahoma, where he was an All-State Cross Country runner. He has traveled the globe and to all fifty states but is immensely proud to call Oklahoma his home, where he and his wife Cassity (family law attorney at Phillips Murrah P.C.) reside and help each other raise their six children.
