After attending the United States Coast Guard Academy, Dale received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1970 from the University of Oregon. Upon graduation, he worked in commercial banking for several years, and then received his Juris Doctor degree from The Northwestern School of law in 1979.
He has been married to Marilyn Smith for 50 years and has four children. When not helping clients solve financial stress, he enjoys running (he has a few marathons under his belt), kayaking, cycling, and an occasional round of golf. In his 40 years as an Oregon bankruptcy attorney, he has helped more than 11,000 Oregonians with bankruptcy and related credit matters. He is a member of the Debtors and Creditors Committee of the Oregon State Bar as well as the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys.
