More About Melissa Larsen

Melissa was born and raised in Rhode Island. She is a graduate of Cranston High School East and the University of Rhode Island. In law school, Melissa focused on the study of criminal and constitutional law, as well as trust and estates, family law and torts. Melissa is one of a small number of women attorneys practicing in the area of criminal defense in Rhode Island.

Melissa spent seven years as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Rhode Island. She successfully handled thousands of criminal cases involving all types of crimes including child abuse, domestic assault, cybercrime, narcotics offenses, DUI, chemical refusals, white-collar crime, sexual assault, child molestation and homicide. Her experience at trial and pre-trial negotiations is an invaluable asset to her clients.

Additionally, Melissa worked in the Private Clients Group at FleetBoston Financial, now part of Bank of America, developing financial strategies to ensure her clients a sound financial future. Her unique combination of corporate experience and litigation skills are what makes her an effective, invaluable advocate for her clients, able to work with them to address a full spectrum of legal needs in a personal and professional manner.

Melissa obtained her J.D. from Western New England College School of Law and has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Rhode Island. She is admitted to practice in Rhode Island and in the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. She is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association, the Rhode Island Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, the Criminal Law Bench/Bar Committee, the Newport Bar Association, the Kent County Bar Association, the RIAG Criminal Division Alumni Association and the Rhode Island Bar Association’s Committee on Probate and Trusts.
