Allison J. Brandt is a Partner with Edison, Edison & Brandt practicing Community Association Law.
A graduate of Charleston Southern University in Charleston, South Carolina, Ms. Brandt received a Bachelor of Science in Economics, with a minor in Political Science. Ms. Brandt worked for several years as an accountant before attending law school.
At Chapman University School of Law in Orange, California, Ms. Brandt participated in the Claremont Institute Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence Constitutional Law clinic. She authored an amicus curiae brief in the case of Barnes-Wallace v. Boy Scouts of America, 275 F.Supp.2d 1259 (Cal. 2003), filed with the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals on December 16, 2003. Ms. Brandt also interned with the Orange County District Attorney as a Certified Law Clerk. In this capacity, Ms. Brandt presented arguments in court on behalf of the People of the State of California under the supervision of Deputy District Attorneys. As a Certified Law Clerk, Ms. Brandt also represented the People of the State of California in Orange County’s Drug Court – a diversion program for narcotics offenses.
Ms. Brandt served as a Legal Policy Intern with the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives in Washington, D.C. She assisted with the final draft of 45 CFR, Parts 74, 92, 96 and 87: Participation in Department of Health and Human Services Programs by Religious Organizations; Providing for Equal Treatment of all Department of Health and Human Services Program Participants.
Ms. Brandt began her legal career as a Trial Court Staff Attorney for the 18th Judicial Circuit in Sanford, Florida in 2006. She worked directly for four circuit civil judges, providing research and memoranda of law. In addition, Ms. Brandt drafted both civil and criminal appellate opinions for the 18th Circuit in and for Seminole County in its appellate capacity.
After transitioning into private practice, Ms. Brandt worked for a large mortgage foreclosure firm in Tampa. This provided her with the necessary experience to join a boutique community association law firm in downtown Tampa, where she practiced for a number of years.
Ms. Brandt represents condominium and homeowners associations throughout the State of Florida, providing full-service representation. She brings particularly extensive experience in lien foreclosure, collections, evictions, and creditor’s rights. Other services include covenant enforcement, governing document review and amendment, and day-to-day advice and counsel.
She is a member of the Suncoast Chapter of Community Associations Institute, and has served as a panelist at the Legal Q&A breakfast in 2011, 2012 and 2018. Ms. Brandt is a member of Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity, where she served as the Vice Magister of the Stanley Mosk Inn for 2003-04. She is also a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association and the Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Bar Association.
Ms. Brandt is admitted to practice in the State of Florida, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
In her free time, Ms. Brandt enjoys ice hockey, music, cooking, outdoor activities and travel.
