I did not come from a family of lawyers or doctors, actually, I was the only one on my mother's side of the family to ever go to college. My dad started working in the factory, General Motors, when he was seventeen and my mom was a hairstylist, or back in her day, a beautician.
I joined the U.S. Army as an infantry soldier and served in both Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. I went to college, making my parents proud, and then followed my dream and went to law school. I always had a job and worked while I went to college and law school, even if it was as a lifeguard at the beach during college.
