Mary Alice H. Godfrey has been a licensed attorney in South Carolina since 1988. She was previously an Assistant Richland County Attorney in Columbia, South Carolina, and a prosecutor as an Assistant Solicitor in Columbia, South Carolina. In 1992, she and her husband E.P. “Bill” Godfrey opened their law firm in Mr. Godfrey’s hometown of Greenville. Mary Alice Godfrey has practiced law in Greenville continuously since 1992.
While the majority of her practice is currently in the Family Court, Mary Alice has many years experience in other trial courts including Magistrate’s Court (both civil and criminal matters), Common Pleas and General Sessions litigating various matters including landlord/tenant cases, Unfair Trade Practices causes of action, trucking cases, playground safety cases, and defending successfully various criminal charges including Murder, Obtaining Goods Under False Pretenses, and DUI.
Mary Alice represented injured people in serious personal injury cases on a contingency fee basis. She also has a general law practice assisting clients in the preparation of Wills, Powers of Attorney, Living Wills and other legal documents.
Mary Alice Godfrey became a certified family court mediator in 1994, 5 years prior to mediation becoming mandated by the court system for Greenville County.
