Attorney
Clarksburg, West Virginia, 26301
John Scott is a life long resident of West Virginia. Growing up in Clarksburg taught me the importance of family and community.
I graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1987. I then attended Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. After graduation from Saint Vincent I began my legal career by attending West Virginia University, College of Law.
In 1995 I opened my first office in Fairmont, West Virginia. As a sole practitioner I handled a wide variety of matters from being court appointed counsel in criminal cases to representing local businesses.
In 2000 I was elected Prosecuting Attorney of Harrison County, West Virginia, continuing a family tradition of public service. During my time as prosecutor, I focused my energies on the young people of Harrison County by introducing programs to address truancy and violence in our schools.
I returned to private practice in 2008. My primary practice areas are bankruptcy, wills and estates, deeds and real estate, oil and gas, and criminal defense.
John lives in Clarksburg with his wife Donna and their three children.
